Settling your child

Our educators will work in collaboration with you to learn as much as possible about your child and their routine. This includes understanding who is in their family, their interests, sleep times, eating habits, and further information so we can extend your home environment into our child care and early education Centre to make it a seamless transition for your child.

The first days and weeks transitioning into a new education and care environment can be exciting and enjoyable, yet also worrying and stressful for both children and families.

Building relationships with educators and adapting to a new environment can take some time, however there are some simple strategies to assist with a smooth transition. We work closely with every family to developed a tailored approach to having  children build trusting relationships with their peers and primary caregivers from their first day of care.

As a small community , we cherish relationships , not only in the centre between children and educators , but outside it to with the families. The Centre hosts dinners for parents in the local community along with dinner or playdates for children and their families. This allows the educators, families and children to feel included and apart of the centre community , which we believe is the foundation of meaningful relationships , that ultimately support the children. We are all part of the Lilliput Family !

Our tailored approach to learning - School Readiness Room

Getting Ready for Primary School: Building Strong Foundations
Preparing children for primary school is one of the most important steps in their early learning journey. When children develop early skills in reading, writing, and maths, they enter school with confidence and curiosity. These foundational skills help them understand new ideas, express themselves, and engage actively in the classroom. Early exposure to stories, letters, numbers, and problem-solving activities not only supports academic success but also fosters a lifelong love of learning. Giving children the right start helps them thrive—both in school and beyond.

How do we achieve this ?

By Building Strong Foundations for School Success
Our School Readiness Program focuses on developing the essential skills and confidence children need for a smooth transition to primary school. The program explores English, Mathematics, PDHPE, Creative Arts, and STEM, providing a balanced approach to early learning. Children strengthen their communication, problem-solving, and self-management skills while developing creativity and resilience. By engaging in a variety of structured and play-based experiences, children are well-prepared—socially, emotionally, and academically—for the exciting challenges of school life.

Encouraging a Love of Reading from the Start
As part of our School Readiness Program, we provide home reading books just like those used in primary schools. These carefully selected books are designed to spark curiosity, excitement, and a lifelong love of reading. By taking books home to share with their families, children develop early literacy skills such as word recognition, comprehension, and fluency, while building confidence as emerging readers. Regular reading at home also strengthens the connection between school and family learning—encouraging positive reading habits and helping children see reading as an enjoyable, everyday activity.

Family Involvement

A Strong Sense of Community

As a small community, we truly cherish relationships—not only within our centre between children and educators, but also beyond our doors with families. At Lilliput, we believe that genuine connections create the strongest foundations for learning and wellbeing.

We regularly host family dinners, community events, and children’s playdates, bringing everyone together in a relaxed, welcoming environment. These gatherings help families, educators, and children build trust, share experiences, and feel part of something special.

At Lilliput, we are more than just an early learning centre—we are a family. Together, we create a nurturing community where every child feels supported, included, and valued.
We are all part of the Lilliput Family!
